A very inspiring and optimistic exhibition is now on in Laituri, the arena of urban planning in the centre of Helsinki. Six master students from TAIK present ideas about utilizing the potentials of urban space. The students’ visions include urban community gardens, reusing old industrial railway lines as public space, reinventing the market squares and landfill sites – and a new Helsinki as “everyman’s city”, built by its inhabitants. At the same time, the students wish to raise discussion and encourage also the common city dweller to become active about developing new ideas for their city.
The exhibition “What if…” is open until 24 October, 2009.
